SERVER MUSTAFAYEV

Server Mustafaev is a Crimean human rights defender, coordinator of “Crimean Solidarity”, a political prisoner.

In 2014, at the beginning of the occupation of the Crimean peninsula, Server stood at the origins of the public association “Crimean Solidarity” and was one of its coordinators. In addition to being a coordinator, Server was also engaged in citizen journalism.

Around 7 a.m. on May 21, 2018, a raid at the Crimean human rights activist’s house began, which lasted for about three hours. During the raid, some documents and electronic devices were seized, and at the end, Server was arrested. On May 22, at a closed session, the court of the Kyiv district of Simferopol kept Server Mustafayev in custody, indicting him under Art. 205.5.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — “Participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation.”

On September 16, 2020, a Crimean Muslim was sentenced to 14 years in prison at the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don.
