ДПЛ «Крим» шукає кваліфікованого та досвідченого кандидата(ку) на посаду менеджера(ки) з міжнародної адвокації Дому

Звітуючи перед директором ДПЛ «Крим», менеджер(ка) з міжнародної адвокації, у тісній координації та співпраці з організаціями-членами Дому, відповідатиме за розробку та реалізацію міжнародної стратегії, спрямованої на просування захисту прав людини у тимчасово окупованому Криму.

Human Rights House Crimea unites 4 prominent Ukrainian human rights organisations to address human rights in the temporarily occupied Crimea. We work internationally at the United Nations, Council of Europe, OSCE, and European Union to raise awareness of the situation in Crimea and pressure States to take concrete action. We are looking for an International Advocacy Manager to lead our work and collaborate closely with our member organisations.

This is an exciting, high-pressure opportunity to be at the forefront of international advocacy and diplomacy and work with dedicated and passionate Ukrainian and international partners. The successful candidate will work closely with partners within the network of Human Rights Houses (16 Houses across 11 countries) as well as with the Human Rights House Foundation, a Norwegian NGO with offices in Oslo, Geneva, Brussels, and Tbilisi.

The position envisages a part-time employment and mostly remote work format, with time-to-time offline meetings.

Expected start of work – November 1, 2022.

Duration of engagement – until the end of December 2022, with opening for extension.

The candidate must demonstrate personal commitment to the values of HRH Crimea, in particular those related to human rights and the internationally-recognised status of Crimea as an occupied territory.

Responsibilities:
  • The International Advocacy Manager is primarily responsible for the development and execution of HRH Crimea’s international advocacy strategy to advance human rights protections in the temporarily occupied Crimea. In particular, the International Advocacy Manager will, in close cooperation and collaboration with House member organisations:
  • Ensure the successful delivery of the organisation’s advocacy-related activities and campaigns, in line with our advocacy strategy.
  • Establish and maintain cooperation with key Ukrainian state bodies (Office of the President, relevant Ministries, diplomatic missions, etc.), international organisations (UN, EU, CoE, OSCE, etc.) and Ukrainian and international non-governmental organizations.
  • Conduct “secondary research” of existing human rights-related documents in order to develop advocacy materials (fact sheets, reports, etc.)
  • Serve as a primary spokesperson and representative of the organization in externally-facing events (press conferences, media engagements, advocacy related events, etc.)
  • Lead the organisation’s media engagement strategies; including maintaining relationships with key media representatives, leading in the development of relevant media materials (press releases, etc.)
  • Prepare relevant public appeals, statements, and other advocacy-related materials.
  • Liaise with advocacy staff of other organisations within the network of Human Rights Houses.

Qualifications/skills/knowledge

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (law, political science, sociology, human rights, international relations, journalism, etc.)
  • Undergraduate or post-graduate work on human rights is a distinct advantage

Experience and knowledge:
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Fluency in Ukrainian, Russian and English is required; fluency in another UN language is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully in coalitions and with diverse groups of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the political and social situation in Ukraine in the context of Crimea.
  • Understanding the specifics of the work of Ukrainian state bodies, international organizations and the public sector, as well as the process of forming of state policy and law- making processes.
  • Contacts in Ukrainian state bodies, public organizations and international institutions is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of relevant regional and international human rights bodies is an advantage.

Skills:
  • Strategic thinker with clear ability to map out systematic approaches to progressing advocacy-related outcomes.
  • Commitment the principles of human rights and non- discrimination.
  • Strong communication skills including writing, speaking and negotiation; developed skills in information collection and analyzing.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure with knowledge of how to respond to and deal with stress.
  • Outgoing and ability to work successfully within a team.
  • High level of expertise with relevant IT products (MS Office, digital security, etc.)
  • Multitasking.
